Rule of thumb to follow to get you prepared for the sales season.
As the year is coming to an end, the store sales are coming to a blast. With all these offers popping up all around you, it can be quite overwhelming and confusing. And before you know it, you’re walking out of the stores with shopping bags in hands, on the way home to regret what you just bought. Ugh.
To avoid that horrendous scenario, let’s read these five sales shopping rules you can follow to get the best of the best deals.
Rule number 1: Pre-sale preparation
Visiting the stores before the sale season starts can give you at least two benefits. First, you get to be more familiar with the store sections, which will help you moving around more seamlessly later. And second, you can take notes on their current prices and use them to compare the sale prices later. This way, you will know whether the deals offered during the sale are valid.
Rule number 2: Priority
Just like your regular, monthly shopping spree, you should make a list of what to buy. For example, a pair of sneakers for your boy is on top on the list, followed by a washing machine, and then clothes and household needs. Write it all, plus your budget for each item, and save the list on your phone. Once the sale begins, go straight to the boy’s shoes section first. With this kind of planning, you get what you truly need without wasting too much time and energy.
Remember to stick to your list, no matter what. If possible, leave your cards at home and bring only enough cash that fits your budget, so you avoid spending too much on things that you might not even use in the next two months.
Rule number 3: Size
Clothing stores usually have a lot of extra-small and extra-large sizes on stock. So, if you’re standard, medium size, be careful when choosing clothes on sale. Don’t let the shopping craze catch you off guard and always make sure of the size.
Rule number 4: Pushy salesperson
There’s nothing more annoying than a store with bad service – be it lack thereof or over-pushy salespeople. When you’re shopping for bigger stuffs like electronic devices, it’s better to avoid a pushy salesperson like a plague. Some of them will do just anything to make you fish out more and more money.
On the other hand, a nice salesperson who listens to what you need is to be appreciated. This type of salesperson usually shows you several options that meet your budget and needs, because their goal is your satisfaction, not merely sales.
Rule number 5: Return policies
Buying something for a gift? Check out the store’s return policies beforehand. Some stores don’t allow any exchange on their discounted products. So, make sure you buy the right size and color for anyone who will receive the gift.
